80/20 Rule applied to
Goal Setting

Understanding how you choose your goals is important but also add that it is the clever application of where you  place your energy can help you achieve more

Creating an Effective
Action Plan

Action plans need to be more than a casual thought about how to approach something.
Goals that you set are better achieved when you have a plan to help you work and actually get to the goal better, faster, stronger

Mapping- time, energy & effort

Isn't it interesting that when you go to a new place you have never been before - being able to use a map, a plan can help you get there when you use it.

The best laid plans help you get to your destinations better

Make your plan now
Don't just plan to make a plan - make it!

HOW TO CREATE AN ACTION PLAN

1. Decide exactly what you want.

2. Write your goal(s) on paper

3. Set a deadline

4. Make a list of everything you could possibly think of that you will have to do to achieve your goal

5. Schedule it into a comprehensive plan

 - Plan each day, week, and month in advance

 - Plan each month at the beginning of the month -

 - Plan each week the weekend before

 - Plan each day the evening before

 - The more detailed you are planning activities & tasks, the more you will accomplish in less time

 - The rule is: Each minute spent on planning, saves 10 minutes on execution

 - As you go through each day of the plan, select your #1 most important goal for the day

(You could set your priorities with the 80/20 rule)

 - Ask yourself: If I could only do 1 thing on this list, which 1 activity is the most important

 - Then ask yourself: If I could do only 1 other task on this list, which 1 would be the most valuable use of my time?

 -  "Your problem is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach."

The Solution can often be that you engage a coach who can help you to learn the best way to make plans, and help you to goal set so you can reach the overall goals!

“We do not receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us, for our wisdom is the point of view from which we come at last to regard the world. ....."
-  They represent a struggle and a victory.”   Marcel Proust

A story on FOCUS and greater success:

I read a quote from Mark Parker, the CEO of Nike, that in a call in a phone call with Steve Jobs he had asked how he could improve Nike and Steve's reply was this:

“Well, just one thing,” said Jobs. “Nike makes some of the best products in the world. Products that you lust after. But you also make a lot of crap. Just get rid of the crappy stuff and focus on the good stuff.”

Apparently Mark then waited for a chuckle from Steve,  but he never did laugh, because he was completely serious about that point. And he was absolutely right.

How does one Focus on the Good Stuff?

Quoting Stephen Covey : “The main thing is to keep the main thing - the main thing.”

People (& companies and governments ) too often lose sight of "the Main Thing" that element to focus on,  along the way sometimes.

Your craft and caliber of the products &/or services you produce is everything. Build a business, a company that builds and maintains incredible products &/or Services.

Only chasing growth or profit can lead to a revenue hungry, passionless mediocre company that’s losses it’s way.

Focus can instead be more  on pursuing and attaining greatness.

Start with great products & Services,  and work through to attain great talent, great marketing, great sales and a great organization.

It's easy to market and sell a great product &/or services. In fact, they nearly sell themselves.

It's horrible to try to market and sell a crappy product & or service. Very hard. It's tough to get your heart in it and your people behind it.

Chase greatness, master what you focus upon, know your core strength and grow that which serves this - and thereby attain your goals, your core significant offering is where you will find satisfaction and success.

The Cobra Effect - Perverse Incentive

Experienced coaches can help you from stumbling into pitfalls...

A qualified and experienced coach can help you avoid things such as..... the cobra effect also known as a perverse incentive..

A perverse incentive is an incentive that has an unintended and undesirable result that is contrary to the intentions of its designers. The cobra effect is the most direct kind of perverse incentive, typically because the incentive unintentionally rewards people for making the issue worse.

Have you ever tried to fix a problem, only to make things worse?

That’s called the Cobra Effect—when an attempted solution results in unintended consequences. Because most of our cause-to-effect experiences involve very simple, direct relationships, we tend to think in terms of linear chain of events. But the world is much more complex than we realise. In a real-world system, there will be multiple reinforcing and balancing connections between events, resulting in often unpredictable feedback loops.

Working through scenarios with an external impartial coach - who knows your goals and can be the sounding board you really need, can help you avoid the discomfort & embarrassment of going down a path that takes you backwards - check in and work through things with you coach is the best plan to talk through and test a plan - prior to launching it...

Introvert - Ambivert - Extrovert

Which one are You?

Ambiverts are people who fall somewhere in the middle of the introvert-extrovert personality spectrum, and they are people who have qualities of both extremes. As such, ambiverts are flexible individuals who thrive both in solitude and company, and they make great communicators and listeners.
